The scene is a small trailer office. WRITER behind desk with a bible, pad of paper, some letters, general paper trail of an idea being processed.
Door opens, TECHnical Advisor walks in. (still trying to decide what faith the technical advisor would be...)
Tech: You wanted to see me?
Writer: Yes, sir. You are the studio's technical advisor for christian historical matters?
Tech: Yes, I am. Do you need some advising?
Writer: Yes, sir. You're aware that a certain celebrity just finished a picture on the death of Christ, right?
Tech: Yes, of course. But I thought that project was pretty well wrapped?
Writer: Well, the studio felt that some additional material could be added to the DVD edition.
Tech: What sort of material?
Writer: The zombies.
Tech: Zombies?
Writer: Well, there's this matter of Matthew, chapter 27. When Christ died, the ground shook and rocks tore and so on.
Tech: Yes, I should think so.
Writer: And a bunch of graves were opened and some dead saints woke up. Then, when Christ was resurrected, they went into town and 'appeared unto many.'
Tech: Uh...yes. That's what it says. Is that the material you wish to add?
Writer: Yeah, we got Brian De Palma to agree to shoot some additional material, he's very keen to get started.
Tech: De Palma?
Writer: Yeah, we almost had Wes Craven, but he's on some project about the sacrifices Noah made right after the flood... Anyway, so we have Christ dead on the cross, and this seems to piss off God..
Tech: Understandable, I feel.
Writer:...oh, right, right. Anyway, the temple veil rips, and rocks bounce all over the place, and these graves are laid open. Now, what condition do you think these Saints would be in? Are we talking 'night of the living dead' or more like Harryhousen's skeletons from the dragon's teeth?
Tech:
Writer: Okay, now, we'll need some names. Not necessarily for the movie, really, but Star Wars has a whole raft of characters all the fans know by name, even though no name was mentioned in the movie. We'll just name the action figures of them if there's enough interest to justify them. So, what Jewish saints would have been in that cemetary at the time Christ was killed?
Tech:
Writer: Now, they sat in that cemetary from the time of death until the resurrection, when they went into town. What do you think they were doing all that time?
Tech:
Writer: Okay, in Isaiah 26, the prophet mentions that bodies will rise from the grave and the faithful should hide themselves from this 'indignation' until it passes. Was that a reference to this incident? 'Cause Matthew says they were seen by many. Brian wants to know if the 'many' would have been Romans, while all the Jews were hiding in their chambers?
Tech:
Writer: Did Pilate ever hear about the zombies, do you think? Is there any record where he wrote to Rome, asking for another Legion to put down a rebel cult that had the power to animate dead? Did any ancient chronicler mention such a thing?
